atlanta birth photographer; welcome turner!
It is always such an honor to be invited to the birth of a baby. I was invited to baby Turner's birthday party a couple of weeks ago. The plan was to birth at the Atlanta Birth Center, and when those plans had to change it was as if no one missed a beat. I arrived at the hospital and the Midwife had set up twinkle lights and the essential oil diffuser. Mama was incredible, and with the sweet support of her husband and Doula, she birthed her baby boy into the water. Welcome, baby boy!
I am on-call 24/7 for birth photography clients the month surrounding their estimated due date (two weeks before and two weeks after). During this time I always have my phone on me, and check it every hour-- sometimes even waking up in the middle of the night to do so! During early labor I keep in touch with my clients, and when my they are ready for me to join them I aim to arrive within an hour and a half.
While I'm photographing a birth, my goal is to not be noticed. I don't use a flash, and I try to be a fly on the wall. I talk with my clients beforehand about their shot preferences, and I never share birth photography without permission from families after they have seen the images. I also create a birth story for each client, which is a slideshow of their pictures and video clips, set to music to beautifully tell the story of their baby's birthday.
