I recently photographed this awesome family in their amazing home. It was so much fun! I've known the family for many years, and watched as their children have grown into kind and interesting young people. Photographing a big family can be a bit chaotic, with so much going on, just like their day to day life really is.
When I'm photographing families I try to get some portraits of each kid, and I hope to let her personality come out in the pictures. Sometimes this works best if I pull each kid away from their parents and their laughing siblings. They can relax a little, I can talk to them, and they tend to be more comfortable. At this session I spent a few minutes with each of them in their room, and I got to see the cherished medals and prized possessions.
I really love photographing people in their home, because it is so much of our story. Plus everyone tends to be more comfortable at home. This family's home happens to be amazing and magazine worthy, but every home is beautiful because of the love inside.
We got so many great photos at this session, but here are some of my favorites:
It really is such an honor to be asked to photograph a family, and to be welcomed into the family's home. This is the space that they see each other the most in, and I love being able to show the beauty of their wild life together!
