In Home Newborn Photography | Atlanta | Zoe

I photographed this sweet family in their gorgeous Morningside home recently. Their family had just grown from three to four with the addition of a newborn baby girl! It was a great session, and oh my goodness, isn't her nursery amazing??

Newborn photo sessions are always fun for me. I meet families in their home, so each session is unique and authentic. We include parts of the home like the nursery, plus everyone is more comfortable at home. A win-in. This is especially true for siblings and pets--although their dog Charlie wanted nothing to do with me! Zoe's family has two babies under two, so being at home made our session as relaxed as possible. Their 16 month old is learning how to be a big sister, which is just adorable. "Gentle Hands!" LOL

I think it is super important to not only include older siblings in newborn sessions, but to spend time focusing on them alone. During one of Zoe's feeding breaks I asked her big sister to show me her room, and she was thrilled. We got some cute shots in her room, and she got to feel special.

No matter how old the siblings are, I always dedicate some time to them at newborn sessions. The same goes for pets. A lot of times pets are the first babies of a family, and they are such a big part of the family story.

Photography has the power to tell a story, and when you add a newborn baby to your life, the home is so much of that story. I totally understand that in home photography might cause some people anxiety. But we can always shift clutter to mke simple and gorgeous images that will be loved. I want to include the home because it is a piece of the story--not because it is pinterest worthy ;-)
