Newborn Photography
A newborn photography session with me is not only about your new baby, it is about the newest member of your family. That's why I want the whole family involved-- parents, siblings, and even pets.
A newborn photo session is about the story of a growing family, and each family's story is unique. My style is an authentic and natural peek into this moment in the story. It is not about props or perfection for me. My goal is to create non cheesy newborn photography for families.

My newborn photography sessions are in your baby's first two months of life. I do not try to pose newborns in unnatural ways, so they do not need to be in that first 10 days of sleepiness. In fact I like it when newborns are awake during our session so we get to see those eyes and maybe some of her/his personality.

Waiting a few weeks for your session also allows the rest of the family to be a little more settled in and relaxed--especially siblings.

My newborn photography sessions last up to two hours. This gives us plenty of time to relax and have fun. We can take feeding breaks (or I can shoot that, too, if you want). I also take time to get individual pictures with older siblings, and show them that they are special too!
Newborn photography sessions are in your home. You don't have to get the family dressed and out the door, and you have everything you might need. Plus I like to include your home in some of the shots. It is all part of your family's personality and story.
I am a photo-journalist and a newborn lifestyle photographer. To me lifestyle photography means that I create the right settings to capture beautiful, authentic pictures of your family. It's somewhere between photo-journalism and portraiture.

Of course I take pictures of your newborn baby alone, including all of the unbelievably cute details like fingers and toes. I do not bring props, and prefer to include items that you have like blankets to make personal pictures. I give my clients simple and authentic newborn portraits. And don't get me wrong--I think
babies in buckets are cute, too. But I think babies are cute all on their own, too. That's why I do not pose or position baby in any unnatural ways (think the composite shot of baby holding up her own head with her hands).

Within two weeks of our session you will have an on-line gallery from which you can download your images, as well as a slideshow great for sharing. We can also work together via online proofing to create a baby book or album that you will cherish forever.
