Newborn Photography | Old 4th Ward Atlanta

Newborn Photography | Welcome, Simone

I recently had the honor of photographing two week old Simone and her family. I met them in the comfort of their home, and documented the beautiful moments that unfolded. I love photographing families at home, because their home is such a big part of the story. I love seeing Simone's crib next to Mama's bed in the first picture, and seeing the porch swing where they are spending most of their days right now.

Simone’s arrival turned this family into a family of three, and it was so sweet watching her big brother get to know her. He’s still a little unsure about the whole situation, but he warmed up!

Lifestyle newborn photography to me is somewhere between family documentary (a fly on the wall) and styled portraits(look at me and smile). My aim is to get a good mix of both of these types of photography, but I am drawn most strongly to the in between moments.

I do not pose baby's in any unnatural ways, and I don't photoshop for perfection--I think newborns are amazingly beautiful just the way they are, and sometimes that includes peeling skin.

When I arrive at a newborn session I check out the house to find the areas with the most interesting lighting and least clutter. Then I make suggestions to my clients about where to be and what to do. But what I really want to capture are the natural moments that occur when family is just being family.

For a family with a newborn that means snuggles and kisses, with plenty of time for feeding and fussing—and I photograph that too! I want to show you how gorgeous your crazy messy life is right now.

Are you ready to book your session? Email me and let’s get it scheduled!

I like to book newborn sessions during pregnancy, so that we are ready when your little one arrives. I like to shoot newborn sessions when babies are around two weeks old. This way they have woken up just a little!
