My first doula baby of 2018, sweet little Arlo, arrived in the early morning hours of January 15th. This was the second birth I was lucky to attend with this family as their doula and birth photographer. While big brother was sleeping, his amazing parents had a beautiful home birth. Their home birth Midwife, Whitney Whitmoore, is one of my favorites--and the last birth we were at together was actually my own 5 years ago!
As a birth doula I support Mothers and Families during their pregnancy and birth--and whatever choices they make. That might mean a medicated hospital birth or an unmedicated home birth. Sometimes the plan goes out the window and I help form a new plan. I want families to understand their options, to make informed decisions for themselves.
I also offer birth photography--to my doula clients or as a separate service. Birth is a beautiful mess! It's such an important day for the whole family, and I try to to tell the story through photography.
I recognize the intimacy of birth, and never share birth photography without permission. I am so grateful to the families who are willing to share their photographs with the world.
