Having a baby is a big deal. It changes everything. Your entire being is transformed into this other thing all together, and your family is forever changed as well. I know that you know this, but I can't help but reflect on this fact after every newborn photo session I shoot.
Baby Ju-Min entered this family recently, and I was honored to photograph a couple of hours of their new lives together. Everyone is learning how to do this new life together, and it really is such a beautiful thing to witness and document.
I offer newborn photography in my client's home for a couple of reasons. The biggest reason is that your home is so much of your story, especially when you have a newborn baby! It is a big part of what makes your story unique, and your newborn photos interesting. The few photos I have of my childhood home are cherished. Our homes are important.
I also prefer to shoot newborn sessions at home because it is where everyone is the most comfortable. When you have a newborn baby, it is not the time to get dressed up and drive to a studio, or even a park. I always tell my clients to feel free to take snack and water breaks as needed. Shoes are optional and I actually prefer that nobody wear them. I want my photo sessions, and especially my newborn sessions, to feel relaxed and stress free.
