The Days Are Long but the Years Are Short
Atlanta Candid Family Photographer and Videographer for Natural, In-Home & Outdoor Sessions
Hey there! Welcome to my blog.
I don’t blog on a strict schedule, but I do share things here when I have something worth talking about—recent family photography sessions, behind-the-scenes glimpses, tips for planning a documentary photography session, and some of the everyday moments that make family photos meaningful. If you’re looking for something specific, you can browse the search drop-down menu. And if you’re here looking for an Atlanta family photographer or videographer, hopefully you’ll get a good feel for how I approach family photography: relaxed, honest, and focused on your real life rather than perfectly posed moments.
Atlanta Family Yearbook | A Year in the Life | Fall 2024
Candid photographs are magical. It’s that simple. Yes, my clients of course know they are being photographed, but the connections and personalities that shine through when they are just being themselves and I am making documentary family photographs are deliciously real. I don’t know how often I compose a documentary shot and think “Whelp…I just couldn’t have made that up,” because real life is the best! People, and families, are silly and complex, and while portraits are an important piece of history, the artful candids are so much more interesting.

Wilson Maternity Session in Kirkwood and Legacy Park
I'm excited to share a glimpse into a recent maternity session that was an absolute dream to shoot. I'm all about that candid family photography life, because those are the moments that make life truly special. The moments that aren't scripted or rehearsed, but just happen naturally, like the spontaneous giggles of your little ones or the tender moments shared between soon-to-be parents.
Raines Newborn Twins Photo Session in Vinings
As a family photographer, stepping into the home of newborn twins is like embarking on a journey of subtle discovery, where every coo, every yawn, and every tiny movement reveals a glimpse of their distinct personalities.
Li Family Photo Session At home in Brookhaven
There’s a unique charm in the everyday moments that often go unnoticed—the little interactions, the subtle glances, the unspoken bonds. As a documentary family photographer, my mission is to tag along with families and capture these genuine, unscripted moments that truly define their essence.
Patton Family Photo Session At Home in Inman Park
As a documentary family photographer, my approach is to capture real and honest moments without any forced poses or artificial setups. I want each image to evoke emotion and tell a story. This session allowed us to do just that - portray the beautiful bond between this family in an authentic and artful way.

Documentary family photography means unposed candid family photography of real life. Portraits are important too, but documentary photos preserve your memories in a special way. A real way, that transports you back to this precious moment your family is in right now.

Igleheart Family Photography Session in Oakhurst
I recently got to hang out with and photograph the Igleheart family in their backyard. We played in the fort, made and ate s'mores, used the garden hose to clean off the toy car and then the rest of the family, and dug in the dirt. After all that it was time for an epic bubble bath, which naturally involved chaos, sweetness and tickles.
Olin’s Newborn Photo Session at Home in Decatur
I photographed this sweet little baby when he was two weeks old, and I can't believe that it has already been two months since he joined us. He already looks so different than he did at first, which is why I love to capture newborns in the first couple of weeks. I think that there is a sweet spot for newborn photos--I like to wait for them to "wake up" a little, but not so long that they no longer look like newborns. I find that to be around two-three weeks old.
Rogers Family Videography Session + Family Film in Edgewood
I recently had a summer photo and video session with this really cool family, who is dear to my heart. I was honored to witness the birth of their youngest, who turned one year old that weekend. I love working with this family--their girls are hilarious, the baby is adorable, and the overall feeling of love is simply gorgeous.
