The Magic of a laid-back Holiday at Home
My memories of the holidays of my childhood are some of my favorites. My mom goes all out for most holidays, and this remains true for Christmas. She is all about the over-the-top magic. The twinkle lights, the garland around the mantle, and 20 different types of cookies in tins. I’ve never done half as much as her, but the holidays at my house feel special in a laid-back kind of way. There’s something in the air—a pulling in and slowing down after a busy fall. The baking and the eating, the all day jammies, and the traditions that weave through the years.
The best memories often happen when no one’s trying hard.
A holiday family film captures those real, unscripted moments of family tradition and connections.
A Family Film Makes the Perfect Gift (for You)
Instead of another thing to unwrap and find a place for, family videography is the gift you’ll actually treasure forever. You and your kids will want to watch it for years to come, and it only gains value as time passes and kids grow up. I have clients who now watch their family films each year, and that has become a new family holiday tradition!
Family videography is a great way to slow down and be in the moment with your kids. You don’t need to think about taking pictures, all you need to do is plan some fun time together and invite me to be there.
Family Films are Easy and Fun
When you invite me to make a family film, all you have to do is inviite me over and have fun with your family. You don’t need to pose or make sure everyone looks perfect. There is no pressure. I’ll come over, hang out for a few hours, and then I will edit together small clips of our time together to make a finished film.
It’s all about you guys being together—making pancakes, decorating, or dancing in the kitchen. Whatever makes your family unique, and whatever your family traditions are. You don’t even have to clean or plan much at all. Your real life is what makes it beautiful!
Inspiration for Holiday Family Videos
Cookie Making—the mixing, the mess, and the chocolate chip sneaking!
Pancakes in Jammies—A cozy and relaxed morning.
Chanukkah at Home— lighting candles, sharing stories.
Christmas Tree Decorating—favorite ornaments and tangled lights.
We have a couple of hours together, so you can combine these or other activities, and even better if you have extended family join you for part of the time! One of my favorite moments from a past holiday film was a grandma reading the same Night Before Christmas book to her grandkids that she read to their mom so many years ago.
What’s Included with your Family Film:
Every family videography session also includes a handful of edited photos. We will take a few portraits at some point (often first, before everyone gets messy!), because I think family portraits are important heirlooms. I’ll also include a handful of artful candid photos from our time together. You’ll receive an online gallery with your photos and your beautifully edited short film (3-4 minutes long) that shows the vibe of your family’s holiday season.
